Contemporary Works: Suspended Worlds
“Mundos Suspensos” as it is original called in Brazil (in Portuguese), is a series of paintings and collages over newspapers from all the countries Tiffani Gyatso has traveled to. She was always fascinated by the beauty of calligraphies and other alphabets. Knowing she could not reproduce them, she collected them and saw them as drawings. After many years of keeping fragments of her journeys, especially to Asia, she came up with this series, which she exhibited at the Materia Plastica gallery in Brasilia, Brazil’s capital.
“Newspapers are stronger then what we think; they also offer a different surface then white paper or canvas – each paper proposes already something else than the other one – giving the artist fun for creating and a flow of intuitive process.”
