Buddha Shakyamuni – also known as Indian prince Siddhārtha Gautama, who reached enlightenment (and thus became a Buddha) in the 6th century B.C., and taught the spiritual path followed by millions all over the world, known today as Buddhism. The Buddha Shakyamuni is shown here with Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara on his left and peaceful form or Vajrapani on his right. Above Buddhas head sits Prajnaparamita – perfection of wisdom.
